POSTING A PHOTO/GRAPHIC TO A MESSAGE
There are several ways.
The two most used are these.
1) PHOTOS ETC. HELD IN YOUR PERSONAL ACCOUNT IN YUKU
In your personal account in Yuku you are able to make an album to hold your photos/graphics. These can be displayed or kept private (see adjust your settings). Just uplift the photos or graphics you want to use from your computer to this album.
How To Post : Pick "New Topic" at the top - you will see a tool bar. Go to the icon with the mountain. This will take you directly to your Yuku Album. Click on the item you want and it will post directly into your message.
If you want to reply to an existing posting but want to add a photo or graphic use "Add Reply". You will see quick reply but this is used for text only.
We have set the size photo at
640 to fit our layout - should adjust automatically. However if it doesn't adjust (see next item)
Found your photo/graphic is too large: Click on the picture with the left side of mouse and you will see little squares at each corner of the picture/graphic. Put your cursor on the square and push inwards to the required size. The picture should not extend beyond the boundary edges as this causes problems with the layout. "(editing by Scott) Photos are automatically re sized to 600 max to help assure photos fit into boundaries. Works most times. But, not always."
Re-editing after you have posted: If you post and then look at it and don't like the positioning or size etc. Just go to EDIT at the bottom on the message , hit it and a white screen appears. Do your amendments and then hit EDIT again and the amended posting will be restored.
2). PHOTOS/GRAPHICS HELD IN PHOTOBUCKET
Photobucket is a free storage source. You can store huge amounts of photos / graphics in there. You can organise them into individual albums and edit them. Just go to http://photobucket.com/. I will post a Photobucket tutorial on how to use it. You can regulate your account -make it private - allow friends to see it or public.
It is a very quick method of posting into a message as there is a link between Yuku and Photobucket. Just look on the tool bar and you will see a little "camera" next to the mountain icon. Click on it and it takes you straight into your Photobucket Account. Go to the photo/graphic you wish to post and click on it - it immediately posts into your message.
Posting from most internet locations is possible by clicking the mountain and paste the previously copied URL, into the URL box.
Just try it folks, you can't do any harm to the site so just experiment with your favorite method.
The easiest and quickest by far is Photobucket because when you click the camera icon, all your photos from PB appear right in the post and just click the one you like, no copying or pasting required.
Second best is posting from your own album. (after you have opened one by clicking Images in the top line and adding pics)
SkyDrive from Windows Live:
Hi guys...hope you don't mind if I jump in here. I use skydrive and copy and paste the enhanced thumbnail. We have the same sizing issue at Shutterfly. The enhanced thumbnail is small enough not to throw off the board and it can link you to a larger photo if the viewer desires to see it full size.
(Note that I have already set my file size before I begin, usually at 8.5 X 11 inches)
First, when I save from Photoshop I use Image>Mode>8 bit.
Next, File>save As (Control+Shift+S) and select JPEG as the File format.
Then I select the location that I want the image saved to. (I only save JPEG's to one main folder that contains sub-folders)
In the JPEG Options Menu that comes up I do the following:
Select Baseline Optimized ( you can use any of the three)
Select the Quality I want using the slider. (I usually use a quality that gives me between 300 - 800 kb size) That actually depends on the file and how detailed it is.
Click "OK" and it is saved.
Next I upload the picture to SkyDrive. This can be found by going to the MSN Home Page and at the bottom is a link named "Spaces" Select that, then select more, and then select SkyDrive.
After my image has been uploaded I click the small Thumbnail and a largeer view is displayed. I right click that and select Copy (Control+C)
Next I navigate to the location or message that I want to paste the image into, select the point to drop it and Paste it there. (Control+V)
The only way that you can do this though is to make your albums "Public" I believe that you can establish a free account that gives you 25 gigs of free storage.
Since I began doing this in this fashion I've had no trouble inserting clickable images. I believe that the key to it is the way I use to make my initial save in photoshop.
I can do the same using other storage site like Fotopic if I remember to make my copy from the larger thumbnail. I don't know if it can be done with Photobucket or not.
Hope this helps,
Sizing photos to 660px or less wide
We are running into problems with photos above 660 px wide going beyond the boundary. So we need the photo to be no wider than 660 px. So the site is set up to automatically adjust the photo down to 660 px wide max. This should clear up any problems with photos being to large for the site.
